Around 1:30am, three men broke into their car that was parked in the driveway and used the garage opener to open the garage then entered the house.\u00a0 The husband heard the garage open and went to check it out.\u00a0 There, he discovered three men had entered their home and luckily, he scared them off.\u00a0 He was able to see them run down the street and get into a blue van.\u00a0 Then, another neighbor left her car window down slightly and apparently the same men went into her car and went through the glove compartment, etc.\u00a0 They were probably looking for a garage opener too but her car has the integrated opener built in that only works if the car is on.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u00a0There are six lessons here:<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u00a01.\u00a0 If you park your car in the driveway and you have a removable garage door opened, bring it inside with you.\u00a0\u00a0Don’t leave it in the car.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u00a02.\u00a0 If you have an integrated opener,\u00a0program it and use it.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u00a03.\u00a0 Always\u00a0lock your cars\u00a0and\u00a0close your windows.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u00a04.\u00a0 Always\u00a0lock your interior garage door\u00a0that leads into your house…\u00a0especially at night!<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u00a05.\u00a0 It’s a good idea to\u00a0turn on your alarm before you go to bed.\u00a0 Our alarms are just as important when we are home as they are when we are away.<\/p>\n
